I therefore infer that a link to a share gives access to any share in the OneDrive space, perhaps limited to a level and its parent. They can both 'climb the tree', at least one level, and drop down into the other share, a link for which they weren't given. I have the reverse permissions problem - if I share a sub-folder with someone and share another sub-folder with someone else, both 'sharees' have access to both shares.
If I only share the sub-folders - then as you can see, there will be no way to know this is part of the main folder 0001 or 0002Įighteen months later this loose sharing of OneDrive folders still seems in place.
Is what I want on my drive and sync'd to my PC - and when I share with people, I want them to use / have the same folder structure - but just not have access to the " bills " sub folder. You could also just share only the sub-folders, but Just to further explain the reason I do not want to use the method of only sharing the sub-folders is that I want the people I share with to have / inherit the folder structure I set-up - so for example: Thanks for that response - and I see what you mean, but it does not solve the problem as if you have multiple main folders, setting up a separate folder to house the stuff you do not want to share is a bit cumbersome - but you are right - it has to be a work around, as right now I do not think MS supports this - however google drive does allow this, so. OS: 64-bit Windows 11 Pro for Workstations I see that the "Add shortcut to OneDrive" option is a relatively new feature that has been rolled out to our tenant.System Manufacturer/Model Number: Custom self built That's not what I wanted - I wanted the traditional separation between my personal OneDrive folders and my company's SharePoint libraries.
Do you want to replace that shortcut with General?" I clicked the Replace button, and that put a shortcut to the SharePoint library inside my OneDrive folder. If I click "Add shortcut to OneDrive" instead of "Sync" in the SharePoint interface, I get "Sorry, we can't create a shortcut to General because you already have one to a folder inside it. When I look at the Account tab in OneDrive, the channel that I am syncing with doesn't show up, so I can't stop syncing that channel in an attempt to get the new one. You're already syncing a shortcut to a folder from this shared library." I haven't been able to find any documentation on this error. I was able to sync with the Files directory in one channel, but now when I try to sync the files in the General channel, I get an error: "Sorry, we can't sync this folder. For example, I'm a member of a Team with multiple channels. Since then, I've had trouble reconnecting to all the SharePoint folders I was syncing with.
I had to reset Windows 10 on my Azure AD-joined computer, after which I upgraded from 1909 to 20H2.
